Thinking through film!

I.

A film festival is an artifact,
Cutting through layers of intentional as well as spontaneous contexts,
It is an instrument to specify collective qualities.
The films are its source, purpose and reason,
They put the movement into motion.

II.

The festival discovers authorial documentary film.
A work of art voicing a unique experience,
Connecting existence and essence, that arise and die out in each other.
A writing that is overwriting a message to change the writing.
In the only way that the statement can be complete.

III.

The borders of film types and genres are transparent.
Cinema is one film and one film is the whole of cinema,
Thousands of plateaus mirror one another.
A film perceived as a documentary cares
whether things exist or not.

IV.

Formal means to follow a given method, social is daring.
It is necessary to rid the social point of view of conventions.
A film goes on behind the eyelids in the form of truth.
However, our senses are not genuine.

V.

A film screening is a project the uncertainty of which is valuable.
Questions, perspectives, answers are ways of film adoption,
There is no reasoning however that can cause its denial.
Our view is too shortsighted,
Nothing is true, the truth is a why.

VI.

Structures within structures, multiplication causes bodies to clash.
Lets understand this as movement within a space that discovers new transparency of information.
A living organism today is Central Europe long and wide, in public films its sense takes place.

VII.

We cannot insist on names, exhausting everything that is supposed to be named.
Thinking through film is neither a reason nor a principle, it is extension as a form.
A film and a festival are two manifestations of the same, audience understanding being its state.

VIII.

One cannot yield to private or public power.
Their taste is useless being too bent on affection for themselves.
The notion of freedom will always be false as the only possible fulfilment of freedom is doubt.
The festival is its agent.

IX.

This is not a manifesto of the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival.
