The Centre Pompidou was designed in the style of high-tech architecture by the architectural team of Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano, along with Gianfranco Franchini in 1977.

It houses the Musée National d'Art Moderne, which is the largest museum for modern art in Europe; the Departement of Public Programme; the Bibliothèque publique d'information (Public Information Library), a vast public library; and IRCAM, a centre for music and acoustic research.

The Departement of Public Programme of the Centre Pompidou intends to be a platform and forum to welcome people from all kind of background, race and gender to engage with artists and their practices but also to encounter other forms of thinking through philosophy, sociology, art history and litterature.
